A private AI keyboard: how BYOK keeps your data yours

A keyboard is one of the most sensitive apps on your phone — it sees passwords, messages, everything. So an AI keyboard deserves a hard look at privacy before you turn on Full Access.

Here's what actually matters, and how Rewordo handles it.

It only reads text when you ask

A trustworthy AI keyboard doesn't run in the background collecting keystrokes. Rewordo reads your text only when you tap an action — rephrase, fix, translate. The rest of the time it's just a keyboard.

Your messages aren't stored

When you trigger an action, the relevant text is sent over an encrypted connection, the result comes back, and that's it — nothing is kept. There's no account and no message history on any server.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

If you want full control, bring your own AI provider key. With BYOK:

• the key lives only in your device's Keychain, never in plain settings;
• it's encrypted on your device before any request, used only in memory on the backend to make the call, then discarded — never stored or logged.

You can also just use the built‑in managed AI and skip keys entirely. Either way, the privacy model is the same.

Anonymous by default

Rewordo uses Apple App Attest for an anonymous install identifier — no name, no email, nothing that identifies you. Only anonymous usage counts are kept, never message content.
